Leonard Peters
Leonard Peters is a theatre director, dramaturg, writer, teacher, acting and presentation coach.
Peters has directed more than 50 productions across the United States including, in New York City, work at Playwrights Horizons, The WPA Theatre, La Mama etc., Circle Repertory Company, St. Clement’s Playhouse, The Joyce Theater, St. Mark’s-in-the-Bowery, and Lincoln Center, and at the renowned Metropolitan Room.
He also directed at the Kennedy Center and The Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C. and at many of the major League of Regional Theaters, nationwide.
Peters continues to bring his curiosity, passion, and keen director’s intelligence to diverse genres including musicals, narrative modern dance, symphony orchestra productions, film, television and cabaret.
Peters is the author of two books, Demystifying The Monologue: Your Road Map to a Compelling Performance and the forthcoming Demystifying Public Speaking: Your Road Map to Successful Presentation, and is the co-author and director of Babalu-cy! – The Art of Desi Arnaz (Winner of the 2008 Backstage Bistro Award, Best Theme Show).
As a coach Peters guides and tutors professionals in such far-ranging fields as theatre, politics, media, architecture, legal, religion, publishing, healthcare, business, and finance.
Peters teaches at The New York Film Academy in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Paris. He currently offers Master Classes in Performing Monologues and Script Interpretation based on his studies with Stella Adler.
Peters also offers one-on-one coaching and workshops in public speaking developed from decades of work with professionals in all fields and professions.
